Term 4 has had a cool start with 7 Bundaberg state schools set to receive funding for air-conditioning in their classrooms.
State Member for Bundaberg David Batt said it was great news for the schools, but noted it’s also important to remember the remaining 8 Bundaberg state schools that have been left off the list.
“Our persistence is really starting to pay off, with more fantastic news for our community today – Bundaberg West, Norville, Thabeban, Walkervale, Bundaberg North High, Bundaberg State High and Kepnock State High are getting air-conditioning,” he said.
“I am so proud to have fought for this since before I was elected in 2017, it will make such a big difference for the students and our dedicated teaching staff.
“I appreciate Labor finally listening and committing to starting the process with the announcement.
“There are still 8 more state schools in the Bundaberg electorate that are without classroom air-con, so I will continue to keep the pressure on.
“There shouldn’t be winners and losers, all students deserve the exact same opportunity to receive a world-class education.
“I will continue to call on Labor to adopt the LNPs fantastic policy that will see a Frecklington Government air-condition all state school classrooms in the state.
“After all, cool kids are smart kids.”
