“It’s fantastic that three of Bundaberg’s school zones will receive flashing school zone signs, it’s something I’ve continued to fight for ever since before I was elected in 2017,” said Mr Batt.
“At the last election, I committed to installing the signs at all Bundaberg schools if the LNP won government and since then I’ve called on Labor to do the same.
“In fact, the Minister is due to respond to one of my parliamentary questions about flashing school zone signs for Bundaberg next week and it looks like I’ve now got my answer.
“While this is wonderful news for three of our local school communities, there are still another 26 school zones in the Bundaberg electorate that are without the flashing signs – 7 of which have absolutely no signage whatsoever.
“It’s also interesting to note that Mt Perry Road was not classified as a school zone at all until I wrote to the Minister last year and after his approval was made, a metal ‘School Zone’ sign was installed, now only to be replaced by the modern flashing lights at the expense of the taxpayer.
“Nothing is more important than the safety of our School children and residents so I look forward to the instillation of the new flashing lights and I will continue to fight for all school zones to be appropriately signed into the future.”
