Batt encourages Bundaberg’s young people to apply for Youth Parliament

Member for Bundaberg David Batt is encouraging young people from the Bundaberg electorate to apply to become the Youth Member for Bundaberg at the upcoming 2020 YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament.

Mr Batt said nominations were now open for young people aged 15 to 25 to apply for this year’s program.

“A young person from each of Queensland’s 93 electorates will be selected to represent their local area and will have the opportunity to experience unique educational opportunities.

“Through the program, youth members will experience parliament, meet MPs from Government and Opposition, have their say on topical issues, take part in committee meetings and produce bills to make legislative change.

“YMCA selects the young parliamentarians based on their enthusiasm, ability to represent their local area, their interest in issues affecting Queensland and their passion for making a difference.

“These types of opportunities are so important for our young people so we can encourage them to get involved and learn more about how they can initiate change to tackle issues and help improve our communities.

“Youth Parliament also provides an excellent leadership opportunity for those who may one day become the future decision makers for our country.”

Applications for the 2020 program close at 11.59pm, this Sunday February 16 2020.
